These attributes describe precisely the music and the
compositions of Katrin Scherer’s latest project: “THE BLISS”
Six musicians , who met before in other different musical projects,
form this exceptional band.
The german saxophonplayer and composer Katrin Scherer
creates compositions, which are infuenced by the theory of
composition by Olivier Messiaen as well as the contemporary
jazz-avantgarde.
The symbiosis of distinct compositions and musicians individual
creativity guarantees a genuine sound-identity.
Katrin Scherer studied jazz and composition at Folkwang Hochschule
Essen and at Queens College in New York City.
She’s continuously working on her own expression of compositions
and music, far away from any cliché, and she’s writing music for
numerous ensembles, between chamber musical context and BigBand.
She was rewarded with several prizes, such as Folkwangpreis
(2002), jazzwerkruhr (2005, 2008), promotion for concerts of female
componists´ from NRW by the national Music Council (2009 with
THE BLISS).
Since 2007 she releases the music of her projects on her own label
GREEN DEER MUSIC.
