Album Notes
The new Katsy Redstar CD ‘Beautiful Life’ contains a wonderful mix of 10 mellow- relaxing songwriter tunes. Modern Americana/Alt.Country meets European Singer/Songwriter style. Steel-string acoustic guitar are in the foreground. Katsy is supported with electric and guitar by Marc Dehnke (Solara, Radiodick) and Olli Seuser (Move On). Harmony and background vocals are added by Tanja Wingerter (Radio DJane) and Alex Goeppert (Rip Torn). Beautiful Life, which is Katsy’s second CD, is produced without any commercial sponsor at Landlord Landliebe Studios in Heidelberg, Germany. A Beautiful Life builds on Katsy Redstar’s previous release, exploring aspects of modern life beyond typical themes of love and heartbreak. The crisp production and clean acoustic guitar provide a solid foundation for each song’s story. I found the guitar work strong and interesting for the sparse instrumentation, and suitable for themes like struggling with business life or the hope of a new relationship that likely won’t last. The slow to medium tempo of the songs won’t raise the heart rate to dangerous levels, but it provides an overall enjoyable listen each time.
