Album Notes

Song writing and singing has always been at the top of Kell Taylor’s musical list. As a teenager he spent countless hours singing, writing, and playing for whoever would listen (usually other musicians/family-friends who dropped in for visits). He grew up in a musical household where there was always a good selection of instruments and recorded music to kill time with.

This interest and pursuit of music from an early age was the groundwork for his debut release ‘Sleeping on Trains’ - a seven-track mini-album/EP that shows a unique blend of genres and influences. Produced by himself and drummer Evan Yako, the album features Kell (on vocals, guitar, and trombone) and his songs accompanied by a group of world-class musicians who vary in age, style, culture, and experiences.

The real strength of the album is its diversity in song writing. The songs seem quite timeless. It also shows a lot of depth for an emerging artist. The title track 'Sleeping on Trains' (one of the last tracks written) was nutted out during countless train trips to and from the Blue Mountains and Sydney. The song went on to become the title track and a symbol for the album.
