Kirsten & Dave’s diverse backgrounds are the key to their success at performing a variety of musical styles. Whether they are playing acoustic pop, country, acoustic blues or folk/bluegrass, their love for music is obvious. Playing a variety of instruments, Kirsten & Dave swap off melodies and harmonies as they play a mix of covers and original tunes. They have many decades of performing experience between them and they have been playing together since 2002.
Having previously recorded the single At Christmastime for a holiday compilation, we decided to make it the title track of a new ep. The album includes two traditional Christmas songs, two contemporary songs, and two originals.
At Christmastime is both traditional and original. Dave wrote the music on the mandolin and Kirsten and Dave wrote the lyrics together. The song is a reminiscence of an adolescent holiday season.
Blue Christmas is the classic contemporary song made famous by Elvis Presley. This version is a little more uptempo and the bass is now playing one of the vocal lines, but you will recognize this right away.
Hard Candy Christmas is a show tune from "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." It was not originally intended to be a holiday song, but we love Dolly Parton so it had to intothe album.
I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day is one of the darkest Christmas songs ever. It's based on a poem written by Longfellow during the American Civil War.
That Kind of Night is an original song written by Kirsten. Christmas is love and love is Christmas.
The Christmas Song: Chestnuts roasting on an open fire....
