In the current music world of soulless musicians singing to beats generated by machines, it is refreshingly evident to have DeHaan whole-heartedly fulfill a responsibility of realness and truth, a responsibility that only genuine musician could touch ."

Album Notes

With over one million p2p downloads, one of five artists chosen for Men’s
Vogue Critics Choice Awards, and a leading licensor on MTV and AOL,
Kirsten DeHaan is this year’s definitive indie Alt-Rock Singer / Songwriter
artist. Distributing her third EP “Thorns On A Crown” via Oseao Media
Group, DeHaan’s talents reflect the current social-political mood with songs
ranging from raw wispy ethereal to deep and aggressive. Released by
DeHaan on her indie label SirLady Records; ‘Thorns On A Crown’ is now
available on iTunes and all major digital retail stores.

1) “1984” skillfully wanders from beginning to end
as DeHaan puts her knack for soothing tones to
good use, singing in a soft, yet gutsy way. The
guitar playing over a catchy beat gives her voice
a sultry way to gracefully fuse folk and rock. “An
infectious solid groove.” -Malachowski
***Focus Track***
2) DeHaan produces a well-crafted, solid folk-rock
tune with passionate delivery over a foot-tapping
guitar melody with “Double Or Nothing.” The
sharpness of her lyrics and gritty tone allow the
song to stay engaging throughout repeated
plays.

“The Night Shift” delves into the very familiar
territory of love as DeHaan’s candor and humility
together make this song relatable. With the
waiting and longing in DeHaan’s voice, the
spaces of vulnerability between notes seem the
loudest at times.
4) A piercing harmonica compliments the delicacy
in DeHaan’s fragile voice in “I’m Coming
Home.” The layered sound and musicality gives
a classic rock feel that is emphasized by the ‘call
and response’ between DeHaan and the
harmonica. “This could be the next big rock
power ballad” -Malachowski

“Ms.Daisy” builds a sweet melody around the
idea of hope. At first, the song seems
inconspicuous and gentle, but DeHaan’s voice is
so melodious and colorful it easily works its way
into the listener’s subconscious.

Just like a favorite movie you watch over and over again and never get tired of and always noticing something new, that is what this CD is like. When I read that this CD was voted Top 10 in the Hudson Valley by music critic, David Malakowski, I could see why. It has such range and when you see DeHaan live you can really appreciate her craft for the guitar. I'm looking forward to the new album that is forthcoming this year!
