Songwriter and performer Les Kerr visited his hometown of Pascagoula, Mississippi in 2006, shortly after Hurricane Katrina devastated the entire Mississippi Coast and flooded New Orleans. When he saw a FEMA trailer on the place where the home he had grown up in once stood, he was moved to write Hope and Love. Incorporating the true story of friends who still live nearby, Les delivers an important message ending with the song line, "It's up to God and us to bring our old town back."
