Album Notes

“Bound for glory…an exquisite slice of traditional songwriting” – The Times London

‘Girl On An Unmade Bed’ is the new album from Lisbee Stainton, the London-based 21 year-old singer-songwriter affectionately known as ‘The English Rose With The 8-String Guitar’.

Lisbee was discovered by BBC 6Music DJ Tom Robinson, who asked for a copy of her debut single, ‘Red’, after hearing it on Lisbee’s MySpace page. Describing Lisbee on air as “a serious young talent”, it was Robinson’s subsequent support of the single which led to ‘Red’ eventually being playlisted at BBC Radio 2. That support from Tom has continued ever since, with Lisbee returning to play live sessions for Tom.

After the success of ‘Red’, Lisbee fulfilled a hectic gigging schedule throughout 2009 while putting the finishing touches to her new album, ‘Girl On An Unmade Bed’ (released January 11th 2010). Published by Hornall Bros, several tracks from ‘Girl On An Unmade Bed’ were recorded at Abbey Road in the legendary Beatles Studio 2, where Lisbee worked closely with producer Rupert Christie, whose credits include U2, Kate Bush, Coldplay & Lou Reed.

Mid 2009, Lisbee released her second single, ‘Just Like Me’, which was voted ‘Record of The Week’ by the BBC’s Radcliffe & Maconie Show, played sessions for Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, and had GMTV News announce Lisbee as a star in the making, before being confirmed as support act for Joan Armatrading’s 2010 Tour. ‘Just Like Me’ Top 30 charted in South East Asia.

As with her new album, Lisbee’s third single ‘Never Quite An Angel’, was released on indie label Marionet, distributed by Universal, and available at HMV, iTunes, 7-digital and Amazon, and playlisted by Radio 2 from January 2010. As predicted, 2010 is shaping up to be Lisbee Stainton’s year.

“Fresh as a daisy in summer, Lisbee Stainton will be a big hit with a cross over audience. She could become the ultimate UK singer/songwriter talent of the past ten years.” - Classic Rock Society Magazine
