Album Notes

Look Mom No Hands began in early 2009 as a result of four seasoned Albuquerque musicians joining forces to write and create pop rock songs with a twist. The band name comes from Magen's acoustic duo of the same name that played in Albuquerque from 2003-2006, recording two albums and touring from the West Coast to the Midwest. After playing solo for a brief period thereafter, and recording another album, Magen and her bassist husband John Hansen joined drummer Mark Jackson-Weaver and keyboardist Matt Mehne to form the new Look Mom No Hands.

Although they are far from the acoustic days of the original, Look Mom No Hands' songs are as infectious as ever. Their sound is born out of a wide range of influences, from Dashboard Confessional, to Muse, to Rush. Magen's powerful and dynamic voice has sometimes been compared to Suzanne Vega while Matt's keyboards have the sound of Ben Fold's ballads mixed with the synths of Motion City Soundtrack. Mark's drumming and John's bass create a solid rhythmic foundation, while everyone's voice is lent to the group's rich vocal harmonies. Their song writing is methodical and thought out, giving each song a natural flow that makes you want to sing along.

In their first year, they have grown in the Albuquerque music scene, playing many downtown shows, all ages events, and even shows promoting the 2010 NM Rocks! Pinup Calendar, in which Magen posed for the month of June. They have recorded two songs which were featured on the Pinup Calendar's compilation CD. 4 more songs were recorded for their new release "Hands Off EP"
