Album Notes

THE MODERN MEN are Fionn Chin-Yee, Jonah Bernstein and Seth Bernstein. All three believe in the theory of evolution, are carbon neutral, and can iron clothing efficiently. "The Sensual Sounds Of" is their first studio album, and was produced by Tim Jim Baker at Common Grounds Studios in Halifax.

The MEN are influenced by 80's soundtracks such as 16 Candles, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and Scarface, as well as sophisticated elevator muzak like Air and The Cinematic Orchestra, and French electrofunk artists such as Sebastian Tellier and Serge Gainsbourg. They like to kick back with Chilly Gonzales, Mocky, Feist, and Stereo Total. They also have deep affections for roots musicians like Taj Mahal, JJ Cale, Leonard Cohen, Chic, and Toots & the Maytals.

The album features the talents of the following Halifax musicians: Glenn Austin, Laura Healy, Mike Farrington, Tim Jim Baker, Philippa Gunn, Rob Crowell, Kinley Dowling, Adam Baldwin, Brian Murray, and Andrew Watt.
