Seattle-based MandoMorphosis is a collaboration among seven experienced mandolin players who have come together to explore the boundaries of new acoustic music. We aimed to cover a lot of ground while maintaining a spirit of adventure. The result is a debut album, titled 2010. It will be released in December. This mostly instrumental record includes many twists and turns, ranging from high-energy tunes with traditional roots, to free-wheeling jams, to fresh arrangements of classical works, to daring group improvisations.
The group's members have performed and recorded extensively. Most play multiple instruments, and the music reflects that diversity as well - you'll hear lots of dobro, violin, and guitar and mandolin-family instruments.
Performing on this record are:
Matt Sircely (Hot Club Sandwich, Danny Barnes, Buell Neidlinger)
David Tiller (Taarka and ThaMuseMeant)
Orville Johnson (master dobro and mandolin sideman/soloist)
Pete Frostic (Old School Freight Train)
Michael Connolly (Captain Gravel and many others)
Adam Larrabee (Andromeda, Zoffer/Larrabee, many others)
Scott Schaffer (Edge City Collective)
