Album Notes

Marcus Willett is a musician who got his start in the musical potpourri that is Miami Beach, performing with jazz, salsa and popular music groups. Working with artists diverse as jazz and caribbean-influenced artist Othello Molineaux, salsa legend Celia Cruz, and beloved crooner Andy Williams; Marcus Willett developed a great love of differing styles and textures of music.

Soundscapes is a collection of recordings done to experiment with combining organic and synthetic textures. Drawing from his background in Latin music, many of the tracks feature percussion as the centerpiece, and drawing from his jazz background, much of the music was improvised. There is a strong emphasis on lush textural sounds as well.

It is with these diverse loves that "Soundscapes" was made. From the percussion-laden opener of "Gabriel", to the ethereal "Iberia", to the lighthearted "As it Was"..."Soundscapes" brings an intriguing blend of acoustic and synthetic textures and sounds.
