Album Notes

The musical journey of Mark Prey and his friends continues.
Mark Prey and the Hunters' second offering,"Driving the Sunset Highway," marks a critical milestone in the evolution of this melodic, hard-driving musical phenomenon. This album is the culmination of two years of joyful, creative hard work following the release of 2008's "Taking The Low Road." More importantly, "Driving the Sunset Highway" captures Mark Prey and the Hunters at their lyrical and musical best. Drawing from a lifetime of electrifying performances, Mark's perceptive lyrics and well crafted melodies are the product of many years of performing music which evokes pensive contemplation to ferocious intensity.
"Driving The Sunset Highway" provides the perfect vehicle for Mark Prey to display his talents as producer, engineer, songwriter and performer.

Bruce Rodgers appears with contributions as art director, co-songwriter and performer on "Driving the Sunset highway". Mark and Bruce reprise their collaboration in this wonderful sophomore release.

The Hunters are back with the band's long time associate Paul Anthony "Rad" performing on piano and organ. Appearing as new guest artist for "Driving the Sunset Highway" is Joe Suskind adding pedal steel guitar throughout the album and a searing lead guitar on the title track. Mark recruited Portland musical legend David Brooks for contributing vocals. Finally to aid in mixing and mastering, Mark commissioned the talents of Mark Frethem AKA Doctor Digital.
Standing alone and rising above the rest "Driving the Sunset Highway" blends Rock, Blues, and Alternative musical styles to achieve a listening journey that is infectious and unforgettable. This record is dedicated to the loving memory of James Harold Prey Sr.

I really liked this album. The music was inspiring in some songs and haunting in others...great pathos in all. The songs also all blended well in sequence, and the lyrics often created vivid imagery. I highly recommend it!
