Album Notes

Martin's second solo album, following "Long Voyage Home", consists of seven richly atmospheric pieces of instrumental music - mysterious, tranquil, unsettling, groovy, and funny by turn. Percussion and samples are used to create extraordinairy soundworlds, a within which beautiful, organic improvisations develop. Accoustic and electronic percussion, samplers, bass clarinet, saxophones, trombones, piano, synths, theremin and toy piano all combine here to magical effect.
Martin works extensively with contemporary dance, and much of this work has been conceived with choreography in mind.
He has now formed a trio,"BuzzNoyz", featuring himself on processed vibraphone and samples, with bassist Jim Barr (Get the Blessing/Portishead) and drummer Trevor Davies, to take these musical explorations into a live context.

Taking the concept of improvised soundscape demonstrated to great effect on "Long Voyage Home", Martin Pyne's latest album has a feel of real musical completeness and is more ambitious in its fusion of instrumental and vocal sources. Deserves a wide audience and bodes well for future releases.
