Album Notes

After picking up a guitar in his first year of uni, the first step in Matt's musical evolution took place. Growing up listening to musicians like Jeff Buckley, powderfinger, oasis and the smashing pumpkins among many, many others Matt learned to play and sing them and their musical influences can be heard sinuously weaving ways through his own songs.

His debut album "Swingin' from Branches" is a story of his family, love lost and other nuances in life that at times tiptoe delicately on the edge of your auditory nerves and at other times invade your mind to whisk you up and take you to where he was when writing the song with a sound that is as earthy as dirt at times and others as crisp as the sound of a newly opening beer. The songs are a bit of a stew, the main ingredients being surf, roots and pop. Cooked at the right temperature at airwaves studio under the watchful eye of producer Michael Zammit, and mastered by David Briggs of the Little River Band fame, the sound is easily digested and will have the listener asking for a second and third serving.

"Amazing! 17,000kms from OZ but listening to this song I feel like I'm back home.." - Mark Logeman

"This guy is so talented he was our first choice for local acts for the largest music festival in the Central West (NSW). His sound is something you just don't hear much of anymore in a world of electronica and dance beats and I find it refreshing, easy to listen to and you just know from his voice that he's a really nice guy (which he is!). Looking forward to seeing him perform at Village Fair next month. I'd give him 10 stars if I could." - Jess Davis, Event Manager, Village Fair
