Album Notes

I hope everyone will listen to these songs, especially those who journey to discover the child within. This album honors the efforts of new parents-to-be, tired Moms and Dads bailing in the eye of the hurricane, hearty souls who struggled to become parents, and all those who stuck it out so their kids would grow up to be a source of amazement for people lucky enough to meet them.

A Real Treasure

This CD is a real treasure. It transports the listener to places in our shared human experience that few other songs have reached, and accomplishes that most difficult task, of being tender and heartfelt without being in the least maudlin. Given that all of us have been children and had parents/guardians, it is amazing how few artists attempt to describe childhood and parenthood. One of my favorite songs here is "Story of a Family" which describes the profound emotions of giving up a baby and adopting a baby--the two sides of adoption. Another favorite is "Bigger," on the amazing process of watching kids grow up. What unifies all the songs is their honesty, engaging melodies and powerful evocations of all that is wonderful and magical about childhood and parenting.

My children loved this CD and opted to spend an hour coloring while listening to it insead of watching TV. This is the type of singing that goes on in bedrooms and nurseries all over the world all through time. It is not over processed, or "silly". Your children will not out grow this one. The songs tend to flow into each other so it is nice for driving too.
