Album Notes

Ambient. Electronic. Soundscape. The Green Leaf has all these elements. Often resting on an underlying current of sound, the melodic elements drift and intertwine on each track. There are beats and rhythms and there are moments when the piece lingers in space floating free of any anchor.
A few notes played or the character of a sound can open the way to the creation of an entire piece. There are is very little planning prior to recording. Many portions of the tracks are recorded in one take with no re-recording.
I have always been captivated by the sound of the Indian sitar with its drone strings sounding like the cosmos underlying in an almost subliminal way what occurs at the more conscious level. It is an atmosphere in which things are happening. There is a lot of atmosphere in The Green Leaf cd and various levels of sound as you would hear on a busy city street and quiet sublime moments like we might have in some wilderness valley.
