Album Notes

Voluntary Electrocution
Modern-e-Quartet
A new Production by Ekfrassis Productions

In Voluntary Electrocution, the electric sound is created by 4 acclaimed classical performers in a strong political mood. This is already evident from the first track, which gives the CD its title, and was composed for the uprising events of December 2008 in Athens, Greece. In a similar note is also the work Rachel Corrie’s Journey, honoring the American activist killed by the Israelis, while trying to protect the Palestinian settlements. The other compositions, too, deal with issues that concern us all: the contradictions of the modern way of life, religion, and also the burning ecology issues.
This entire political and musical stand has sparked the interest of the BBC, which covered the opening live event of the CD, in January 13th 2010. The video clip of the coverage can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NNCMbK7um8)
The CD booklet contains a selection of the work of photographer Jonnek Jonneksson

The Modern e-Quartet
The Modern e-Quartet is comprised of 4 classical musicians, with restless souls. Their excellent technical and performing ability, coupled with the use of technology (electric instruments, computers, samples, etc) create an altogether new and fresh experience, which attracts not only the audience of classical music, but also the alternative and rock crowd.
