In cutting edge prose and dynamic pop songs, Last of the Zacharys” tells the tragi-comic tale of Jaz Zachary, the sole heir of a powerful midwestern clan, whose drug-fueled rebellion and rock star dreams don't just alienate him from his family––they nearly cost him his life.

“Last of the Zacharys, A Novel with Songs" consists of a full-length literary novel, and 46 original songs written and performed by the singer/author.

The novel is available in multiple ebook reading formats, including the industry standard EPUB –– suitable for Kindle and iPad readers –– and features links to the songs, which will be available for digital download at CDBaby, and its digital partners across the web.

Stylistically, the songs from the novel run the gamut from post-modern acoustic and groove pop, to epic alternative rock mini-symphonies, to crunchy power pop, all featuring the strong clear vocals, and witty and intelligent lyrics of Morty Shallman.

The complete collection of songs from the novel will be released over three volumes, with "Songs from the Novel, Last of the Zacharys - Volume 1" set for a summer, 2010 release.
