Album Notes

Moruza is piano pop at its best: whimsical, intelligent and warm. Featuring melodically-driven female vocals with violin, double bass and percussion, Moruza is a collection of normal everyday people who, in between living their normal everyday lives of houses and gardens and families and jobs get together to play music.

The band name is pulled from frontwoman and songwriter Leslie Moruza Dripps. Coincidently and perhaps a little conveniently, the term 'moruza' is Puerto Rican slang for mish-mash, uncategorized, hither-thither--usually referring to somebody's hair. As a family name it is rare: there are only a handful of Moruzas out there.

Treat yourself to discovering that Moruza is a tad, er, moruza: indie-jazz-influenced-singer-songwriter-lieder-based-piano-pop. In short, music your ears can love.

MORUZA is Leslie Moruza Dripps--piano and main vocals, Melissa Sunderland--violin, Brian Cruse--double bass, Kyleen Terrana--backing vocals, Andy Blunt--percussion.

Whimsy. Optimism. Quirk. Moruza performs "the music we want to hear," says frontwoman Leslie Dripps. "We hope you'll want to hear more."
