Album Notes

Muddy River String Band is an Albuquerque, New Mexico band that has been entertaining audiences since 2005. We have performed at numerous local and regional festivals, small venues, and private events. We are the 2008 FIRST PLACE winners of the bluegrass band competition at the Southwest Picker’s annual State-wide festival in Santa Fe. From folk to blues, bluegrass to old-time, Cajun to country, we play an unusual and interesting mix of Americana including many original songs. Our group members and instrumentation include Art Garcia (vocals, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, harmonica, bass), Diane Prior (vocals, AutoHarp, hammered dulcimer, percussion), Ben Prior (vocals, ‘cello), and Lynda Garcia (bass, drum). Our first CD, Cactus Jam, was released in January 2008 and our second CD, Down by the River, was released in April 2010. Our music is bright, varied, and energetic, with the occasional moody tune.
