Album Notes

"The self-titled debut album from Los Angeles-based power trio Murder at the Well firmly establishes the band as a sonic force defying easy categorization. Comprised of bassist/vocalist Dave Tomkins, guitarist Reza Moosavi, and drummer Mike Dorado, Murder at the Well seamlessly fuse space rock with metal, progressive rock with blues in a complex roar of dense guitar work, percussive bass riffs, thunderous drums, and uniquely melodic vocals. From the flurry of notes introducing album opener “Night & Day” to the final, punishing chords of “Redemption (Reaching Out),” Murder at the Well’s first album—as gripping as it is ambitious—solidifies this gifted ensemble of players and songwriters as a musical force to be reckoned with."

Vocals are very weak....especially if you watch the bands live videos. Rush clone in structure....decent drummer, ok guitar player who is obviously told to stay out of the way (bet ya 10 bucks he's told what to play), and a bass player who over plays without ever playing anything that interesting or that particularly fits the song. Let me guess, the next thing the bass player will do is start wanting to add foot operated keyboard sounds like Rush. Who ever wrote the above review is obviously sleeping with one of the band members. On the positive, great name and nice video on youtube. The stuff is well produced.

Murder At The Well by Murder At The Well

The insidious and rockin' Murder At The Well plays like a Rock Opera. It is dark and haunting, but also channels 70's, 80's, and 90's rock and 80's pop - especially Rush and Simple Minds' Don't You (Forget About Me). David Tomkins, the lead singer, has a sexy, velvety voice that channels Elvis, Conrad Birdie, the Serpent in the Garden of Eden that made Adam and Eve sin, the Pied Piper, and the tortured hero or monster in a monster movie. Murder At The Well is an AWESOME ROCKER that is UNIQUE and unlike anything you've ever heard. It could definitely be made into a Rock Opera. The songs I especially LIKE are Night and Day, Hypocrites Bleed, Tea Party, Stargazing, and Up High. I like how there are messages of religion (Christianity) in this album.
