In a January 9, 2011 review the Philadelphia Inquirer states: " A Dangerous Thing is an insistently engaging collection of catchy, well-crafted songs that sound radio-ready without being glib either musically or emotionally. Acciani expresses youthful yearning ("Break Free"), but she also faces up to romantic disappointment ("I Need the Rain," "Killing Me") with lyrical sophistication and mature restraint, avoiding overwrought power balladry.
Acciani can flash a little attitude ("The Last Time"), but she can also be sweet without being saccharine ("Ribbons & Curls"). All in all, this is a very impressive debut.
"A Dangerous Thing" was recorded and mixed in New Jersey by producer Jimmy Heffernan, who spent years playing with many artists including Brad Paisley and Joe Diffie. It was mastered in Nashville, TN.
Natalie wrote all 11 tracks and also co-produced the record. The last track of the album, "Jake's Song", is a special song that Natalie wrote for her friend, Jake, after he passed away from Leukemia at age 20. All of the proceeds from Jake's Song are going to the cancer foundation that is set up in his name: the Jake Wetchler Foundation for Innovative Pediatric Cancer Research.
