Album Notes

Here's A Letter, the debut album birthed by the Olive Grove [based in Portland, OR], is full of proof that the Northwest is a wellspring of creativity and depth. Composed entirely by the band's leading lady, Emily Wilder, the album is chock full of angelic vocals and piercing lyrics, creating a welcoming collection that beckons you to come, sit on the floor, and relate.
Not lacking in temperament is this unique bouquet of songs, driven by a heavy blanket of deep bass tones and haunting guitars (Landslide, Night Rider, The Other Summerwind) . It is lifted to reveal a light summer breeze of rhythmic bluegrass acoustics (Mt. Tabor, Simple) and delicately placed strings. Don’t be surprised if this album starts to feel like your life’s soundtrack. Throughout its playtime it projects typical emotions you’d expect from something with a soul, or a director behind the scenes. Here’s A Letter is a hard earned glimpse into the life and heart of Emily and her band mates, one that should be listened to with no reserve.

Amazing Album

This quite professional release for an indy album has quickly become one of my favorite “relax” albums. Leading lady Emily has created an amazing tapestry of music, and lyrics; both benefit each other in a way you don’t see in modern music these days. I highly recommend this sweet rainy day album to any one who wants to look up through those very rain clouds and see that one ray of sun light. I just bought this album two days ago and my play count says I’ve listened to it through nine times. It hasn’t gotten old. I recommend you buy this album and grab a cup of tea and settle down for a very relaxing thirty-nine minutes.

Refreshing vocals, beautiful melodies, and such crafted word weaving in her songs! 'Here's a Letter' is one of the best albums I have heard on cd baby hands down. I'm telling everyone I know to take a listen!
