A staple on Los Cabos music scene over the past three years, drummer Pedro Cervera has just released his debut album, as a composer and bandleader. Cervera recorded the album, entitled "Circular", in San Diego at Jazz guitar legend Peter Sprague's "Spragueland" studio. Joining Cervera and Sprague in the recording were long time jazz scene bassist Bob Magnusson who frequently visits Los Cabos to perform and teach, as well as San Jose bassed saxophonis Howie Clifton.
Cervera considers Circular to be a jazz album, which is certainly is. Recorded in just 6 hours, the music is ripe with improvisation while maintainning an adherence to the strength of deliberate composition and arranging. This is how the old great jazz discs were made.
