Consisting of musicians with writing and producing skills that defy their tender age, the Peet Project plays a dynamic blend of jazz, pop and funk. The driving force in the group is violinist – composer – producer Peter “Peet” Ferencz who shapes the band’s sound by using the violin as a lead instrument in an equivalent role to saxophones or keyboards.
Peter started to learn classical violin at the age of 4 and was already playing for pop groups at 13. He was just 15 when he began to write and record hip-hop, r&b, house and pop songs in a small home studio. At high school, Peter teamed up with keyboarder Ádám Lőrincz with whom he put together a series of compositions, of which the track Pink Spirit received regular airplay at Budapest’s leading smooth-jazz/lounge radio station 90.9 Jazzy. While working on their first album in 2009, the group was joined by seasoned saxophone player and jazz educator Marci Mits and took up the name “Peet Project”.
The first joint effort of Peter and Marci, a sax and violin-driven jazz-pop track titled Be Free took a flying start: It won the grand prize at 90.9 Jazzy radio’s 2009 song contest and was put into heavy rotation at the station immediately. The song is one of the highlights of Pink Spirit, the international debut album of the band.

Hungary’s Peet Project delivers jazz, pop and funk with driving force…. The music is built around Peter “Peet” Ferenz’s funky violin… creating the band’s signature sound. Peet began playing classical violin at the age of 4 and by 13 he was already performing in pop groups and by 15 he was composing his own Hip Hop, R&B, house and pop songs in his home studio. After teaming up with keyboardist Ádám Lőrincz in high school, the two released the song “Pink Spirit” which received regular airplay on Budapest’s leading Smooth Jazz/Lounge radio station 90.9 Jazzy. The new, debut album, also called PINK SPIRIT, is sure to put the Peet Project on the global Smooth Jazz map as it’s loaded with excitement and flair with riveting songs like “Be Free” featuring off the hook, irresistible grooves and melodies! PINK SPIRIT is an attention-getting, Smooth Jazz smash!
