The ideas for this music have been germinating and evolving for several years now being performed in dance halls throughout Maine and New England continuing a social tradition of contra dances going back generations. These settings provided the inspiration to expand our capabilities and sound palate as a duo and to create a rich orchestrated sound full of passion and momentum. All the sounds on this recording were created on electric five string violin, an acoustic/synth guitar, didgeridoo, voice and a foot board and reflect a single performance, created live, by two people. Ed, with the extensive use of live looping, compiles different ideas throughout a performance adding things and pulling them out much like a DJ would while John fills in the additional textures on guitar, foot board and didg. Creating and sharing this music for listeners and dancers is nothing short of exhilarating and we hope it moves you as well.
Perpetual e-Motion is:
Ed Howe - NS Design CR5 electric five string violin, harmony vocals
John Coté - Godin synth guitar, didgeridoo, foot percussion, vocals
