notes
Heidi Petrikat's music is distinct and hard to compare but has a universal sound. It can be classified in the acoustic (pop) or alt pop rock genre and can be as soothing as Sarah McLachlan, as up beat as Third Eye Blind but some of her darker songs have a haunting or wistful beauty that may leave you pondering. A native of New York City, Heidi was a fan of music at a very early age.
She began studying ballet and tap before the age of 3, performing her first show at the age of age 5. She learned guitar and piano before her teen years joining her first band at age 14 and began writing her original songs. During her college years she studied voice with Manny Perez, vice president and general manager of Hale Piano. Perez is an active member of the arts community and a voice teacher for opera singers. He has a special affinity for the Florida Grand Opera.
Heidi was later vocally coached by Gordon Grody (producer/vocalist) who has sung with David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, Sting, Talking Heads, David Sanborn, Spyro Gyra, Phil Collins, Peabo Bryson, Hall and Oats, Patti Austin, Steely Dan, etc. She spent years singing covers in Japanese cabaret clubs in NYC and Tokyo while writing and producing her original songs for her first CD.
She then formed several bands to perform her originals in the NYC rock club circuit. She also performed many solo acoustic shows. Heidi has independently completed and released her debut CD "Desperate Lord" in 1999 and has received opportunities since then leading her into several contract offers, singing TV and radio commercials, performing on television entertainment programs, etc.
She is now a part of a compilation charity CD titled "Its About Eve" consisting of songs from 13 independent female artists promoting breast cancer awareness. It has been released June 13th 2002 via "Fore Reel Records." Joan Jett is featured on the bonus track singing lead vocals on "The Word," a Beatles original. Heidi participates with other female vocalists singing the back up vocals for "The Word" and has one of her own songs featured on the CD as well.
Now available and newly released "Galilee" October 2006! Originally completed in 2004, "Galilee" is available for sale for the first time on CDBaby! "Galilee" was co-produced with Jon Gordon who has worked with Suzann Vega, Lisa Lobe, Madonna etc. Other wonderful musicians such as Deni Bonet (violinist) Francisco Centeno (bassist) Eden White, Lee Finkelstein and more accompanied Heidi with their great talents on this CD . If you like fun, well written, and beautiful sing along songs, you will love this CD!

author: David WeissnerI liked the sound of Heidi's lead guitarist. He performed Desperate Lord with her at The Bitter End in New York City back a couple of years ago. Can't wait for her next CD.

Heidi's truly independent work shines through on this CD.
author: Mark DiorioDid you ever buy a CD for one song and didn't like the rest? Well, rest assured, that won't be the case here. Every song is a winner, blessed with Heidi's lush vocals, catchy rythms, and insightful lyrics. Listening to this collection of songs is very therapeutic, so spend the ten bucks. You'll have a great investment in your player.
