Album Notes

Ever since the beginning of mankind, humans have been dreaming of achieving an infinite lifespan. The evidence is recorded in our culture, and even something as final as death won’t stop our imagination. We’ve got various forms of perpetual Afterlife, Angels with wings and stuff, invisible ghosts learning pottery, even 300 year old teen-age Vampires…

This album consists of an inner dialog about the process of living forever. On the one hand, the song “Heaven’s Curtain” paints a beautiful picture of an endless summer, and on the opposite end the song “Burn for You” deals with the loss of loved ones around you. Ever wanted to be a ghost? Listen to “Outside”, and you’ll be like… “uhm, no thanks.”

So you want to live forever? There are at least 10 reasons why I would not want to. That number happens to coincide with the number of songs on this album! Hmm… Coincidence? I think not… Despite these dreamy and meditating undertones that tie this diverse collection of alternative rock together, Phoenix Down has a very fun-loving, up-beat personality that is especially evident in their Live-shows.

Mix their Radiohead-esque atmosphere with songwriting inspired by Pearl Jam, throw in some Red Hot Chili funkiness (most like it hot in Texas), and you’ll merely understand how we hear our early influences in ourselves. Yet everytime somebody says: “You guys remind me of !” – we get a completely different response. So instead of reading a piece of text that describes what our sound sounds like, just click the little ‘play’ button, and get back to us on what random band YOU think we sound like! We’re interested in the results.
