Album Notes

The second release from one-man-band Psycliq, halt is a study in flow and interconnections that speaks well without resorting to words. Written, recorded, and produced entirely by Justin Richer in a home studio.

The album opens with a straight-forward rock riff in "Every Morning Orange and Blue", a song that could easily be the soundtrack to a triathlete's morning workout routine. The three-part "Resonance Suite" is spread across the album and features different aspects built on the same harmonic foundation. The ambient anthem "Adoré" is an intricate electronic piece that weaves back and forth across the depths of space. "Negative Space" on the other hand is a rhythmic experiment that questions what happens to us at the very edge of those depths. "This Town Loves You, This Town Will Destroy You" is another fast-paced rock number that is first driven by a guitar and then by a piano. The mellower "Everglow" is a song complex in its simplicity. Recorded using only a single guitar dubbed five times over, it has a surprising depth of interplay in its parts. Finally, "Every Evening Crimson Resound" brings a solemn end to this album, calling to mind feelings of wandering alone at dusk along empty city sidewalks.
