Quintessence was formed in 1995 for the first ever chamber music course at the Britten-Pears School for advanced musical studies. The group has performed at many Festivals including the Aldeburgh Festival and Harrogate International Festival in the UK. It has also made extensive tours of the UK and overseas including a British Council supported tour of Taiwan.

This CD includes the groups first commission from Tansy Davies, since then the group has been active in commissioning a number of new works from British composers, the group has also been augmented to become Ensemble Q, the CD 'Untold', recorded by this larger group, is also available on CD baby.
