Album Notes

RUSTMINE is a five piece, American, melodic-metal band with band members both from Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA.

RUSTMINE came together as a full band in August 2006. Rhythm guitarist Josh Smeller started the band, and soon started jamming with lead guitar player Jay Kay in 2004. Shortly after Jay Kay joined RUSTMINE, our former bass player joined the band and offered to play bass guitar part time to help get the band formed. Josh, Jay and our former bass player jammed with various drummers until drummer Tracy James Finck joined the band in August 2005. At this point, the four musicians began crafting songs and searching for a lead vocalist. The band was fully formed, and started moving forward when vocalist Sam Logan joined the band in late May of 2006. Damian Hassett joined as the full time bass player in October of 2008.

***2009***
The band is currently doing very, very well; writing album 2 and playing live shows.

Brief History of the bad....
After almost three months of rehearsing and writing, RUSTMINE played their first show, co-headlining at the Aladdin Theater in Portland, OR in July of 2006. The first live show was a success.

Six months later, at RUSTMINE’s second ever show, they were filmed for a television show, and selected to be Crave Magazine’s Northwest Featured Artist for Crave’s January 2007 issue. During this period RUSTMINE recorded their first, self-titled, four song demo.

With the success of the next four shows, and the reviews of the demo, RUSTMINE then decided to start recording their professional, self-titled, debut album “Self Destruct” in May of 2007. The album was released on February 26th, 2008.

Awesome album. It's heavy metal work but more. It's a mix of metal with a hint of softness that some are calling melody. At age 52 there aren't many metal bands I listen too. Rustmine is the exception. Tracy Fink is one incredibel drummer.

Back in May of 2007 Rustmine went into Northern Lights studio to record their first full length album, with Gunnar at the helm again. Their demo was an impressive show of dedication by five of PDX's most talented musicians; Matt Connett and Tracy James Fink of Anger Management; Sam Logan formerly of Patient29; and Josh Smeller and Jay Kay who started this mighty force of pure metal only four years ago. As for Self Destruct, it is a sheer masterpiece of brutality and melody. Most anticipated release of '08
