Saw Rob playing around L.A. a few years ago, and "Reminds Me of You" blew the roof off. Then I saw him playing one of his Superfine songs on Buffy the Vampire Player. Obviously, giant leap from the hair band days. Got the Superfine CD, which blew me away too, so I've waited for this one, and not disappointed. Highlights for me are the title track, "Reminds," and "Survive a LIttle Lonely," and the last track.
Trying to describe it in terms of some other singer, it's tough, which I guess speaks for the originality factor. In a weird way, Tom Petty is a great parallel. The music and voice don't sound alike, but the passion, the razor sharp lyrics, and the variety of sounds and melodies definitely feel the same. I'd love to get "Reminds Me of You" into a movie. He's gone from Kiking Tracee to kicking ass. My new favorite music when I want to rouse up a mood.
