Album Notes

Steinbach born Roxanne Chornoboy is a singer/songwriter and producer who has just released her debut album entitled ‘The Winner’. Her style can best be described as a unique fusion of many musical influences including dance, Latin, rhythm and blues and even fifties doo-wop. A former engineering student, she was selected a finalist in VH1’s monthly Song of the Year songwriting contest in November 2005 which gave her the incentive to record an entire album that’s taken nearly four years to complete.

After an initial miss start of hiring a producer to orchestrate the songs, she realized self-producing the album was the only viable way for her to work her vision into the tracks. Calling on Andrew Yankiwski at Precursor Productions was instrumental in helping her to realize and refine her goals as a producer. “I just wanted more than anything for the songs to be an extension of who I am. I wanted the opportunity to be able to sit in the producer’s chair and veto anything I didn’t like.”

And that’s exactly what she did.

Boldly titling her debut ‘The Winner’ was a no-brainer according to Roxanne. “For starters, I thought I’d never finish it! It was a struggle to keep going. What I thought would take a few months turned into years. I had to fight for time to create it and feel I’m ‘The Winner’ not just for the finish but by finishing strongly, with my vision firmly in tact!”

The album features instruments programmed by Roxanne with the exception of horns played by Ravi Poliah and additional production, mixing and mastering by Andrew Yankiwski.
