Album Notes

On The Edge – the Ryan Calder Band’s second album – is a window into the life of a five-piece family. And while the band’s music crosses maskande, blues and jazz boundaries from its acoustic rock foundation, the message consistently leans towards the positive side of life.

Front man and songwriter Ryan’s philosophy is that the band’s music should leave its listeners feeling like life is worth living. And there is plenty to look forward to with the band’s new album, On The Edge.

The music is influenced by the likes of John Mayer, Jamie Cullum, Jack Johnson, Newsboys and tobyMac, and is fronted by the vocals of Ryan, Tamlyn Calder and Rudi Engelbrecht, who also brings the subtle rhythmns and nuances on drums complimenting the rhythmic style of Ryan's acoustic guitar work. Funk-style bassist Roberto Hemmero and pianist and keyboard player Jon Calder add further depth to the musical landscape on the album.

This album is really special. After listening to only a few songs it left me feeling inspired and motivated. I love the home-grown feel to it. I wish you guys great success and we can't wait for a UK tour in the near future!
