Seven Blue Seas is Satya's debut album recorded in collaboration with Brooklyn-based producer/composer/guitarist Scott Anderson and featuring some of New York's finest musicians.
Satya sings in Portuguese, English and Hindi, three languages that broadly represent the history of cosmopolitan Bombay, her city. Her lyrics speak of searching and longing for cities and loves seven seas away (a feeling which the Brazilians have a name for - saudade), as in the title track Seven Blue Seas and the track Toh (co-written with Scott). Ponteio and Tudo que vocĂȘ podia ser are classic Brazilian tunes that resonate with her for their themes of searching and making sense of change. SambaR (co-written with Scott and Doug) was inspired by her South Indian analytical approach to dancing the samba. O Ponto and Felicidanandam are impressionistic tunes she wrote with the soloists in mind. Harbour Line (a local train line she has fond memories of) and Raat are both written in homage to the large hearts of megalopolises.
