Album Notes

"Helland is yet another accomplished ex-punk from the `80's who has made the striking transition to atmospheric soundtracks." Jack Rabid/Big Takeover Magazine

Scott Helland - Hellbox Mood Rings CD 1996: "Helland recognized the verite of the phone message and uses it as a jumping-off point for two releases- Mood Rings and (1999's) Motion Sickness, the latter using additional sources...for voices. The result is an interesting collage of music with prerecorded voices acting like a narrative. In a sense, which I can't explain, the music acts in accordance with the "narration" - music becoming total background while voices act as storytellers." Jim Lange WVPR

About Scott Helland:
Scott Helland is an American-born punk-veteran guitarist of Czech and Portuguese descent whose been writing, recording and performing music since the ..80's. He has over 25 recordings out including 7 solo CDs and as of 2010, 4 CDs with his duo The Gypsy Nomads aka Frenchy and the Punk.

Touring extensively year round they perform at festivals, theatres, conventions, clubs and cafes and can be heard on independent radio in the US and Europe.

In the eighties and nineties, Helland played bass guitar with the bombastic Western MA hardcore punk bands Deep Wound, (which included Dinosaur Jr's J Mascis and Lou Barlow,) and Outpatients (with his brother Vis Helland). Both bands released critically acclaimed underground recordings that still sell today to punk record collectors and aficionados of the hardcore music scene here in the U.S, Asia and Europe.
