Shafaatullah Khan is the first known artist of Indian classical music to have attained simultaneous excellence in performing three different instruments - the sitar, tabla, and surbahar. His lineage can be traced back over five hundred years to the golden age of the arts in the reign of the great Mughal emperor, Akbar (16th Century India).
Shafaatullah Khan studied the sitar and surbahar under the guidance of his famous father, the legenday Ustad Imrat Khan, and learned tabla under the respected Ustad Ibrahim Khan. In the first track, he performs solo surbahar, and on the second track, he plays sitar and accompanies himself on tabla - a first in the history of Indian classical music.
