Put lilting harmonies, Norah Jones, a bit of blues, foot tappin', cleverly-quiet instrumentation, and Simon and Garfunkel in a blender. Add a dash of cuteness and a pinch of creepiness. Drink with crazy straw for full effect.

Album Notes

Shiny and the Spoon give off the warmth and intimacy of the likes of Johnny Cash and June Carter, with a sense of humor-whether it be present in sardonic lyrics or door prizes. Their originals are soulful, clever, and laced with hints of Patsy Cline, Gram Parsons, Elvis Costellow, and Tom Waits. Their covers are always surprising yet strangely familiar.

After making music for less than a year, the duo is excited to release their first recordings; an understated, quirky selection of 7 tracks with sounds that are innovative and exciting, but with a taste of the old Americana standards, seemingly pulled straight off the vinyl. The self-titled EP is independently recorded, mixed, and mastered.
