Album Notes

Sidro debuts their first recording of all original material, Mali Komad Raja.

The phrase, coming from the song of the same name, means "little slice of heaven",
and refers to the Adriatic coastal nation of Croatia, to which the Sidro band
members trace their roots. A longing for the simpler times and easygoing lifestyle
of the villages and islands of Croatia is a common lyrical thread throughout the
album. The album transports the listener on a musical journey that won't soon be
forgotten. Performing on primarily traditional folk instruments, called tamburitzas,
this California based group presents a wide spectrum of musical influence, including
folk, pop, rock, country and gypsy music, sung in Croatian, in the romantic dialect
of the Dalmatian coast. Sidro's members have been performing with each other for
over 20 years and have entertained audiences all across the United States and
Canada. The band's name means "Anchor" and symbolizes their affinity to the Adriatic
sea and the cultural connection that music provides to them.
