Album Notes

The Soul 1st Family is a group comprised of Soul 1st artists; Omar Cunningham, Vick Allen, Mose Stovall and Candy Campana. R&B artist, Tonya Youngblood appears as a special guest artist on Can You Lend A Helping Hand (Please). Southern Soul and R&B superstar, Omar Cunninghma penned this emotional and moving story of an encounter with a homeless man in a manner that reminds us all that we could be in the same situation and we shouldn't turn our back on someone who may be going through hard times due to circumstances beyond their control. One line says: "I'm good folk, but I struggle, I ain't never been in no trouble, never mind that I got behind and let my bills double. I used to have a job like you're going to; I used to wear a shirt and tie you..."
The moving music to Can You Lend A Helping hand flows perfectly with the pleading and emotional vocals in a way that brings tears to your eyes.
Soul 1st Records had planned to release the record a holiday reminder to give back to those who are less fortunate, but upon seeing a special on CNN about the non-profit group, Stand Down, which helps homeless veterans, Soul 1st CEO, Reg McDaniel decided to donate funds from the sell of Can You Lend A Helping Hand to Stand Down and other organizations that help the homeless and those in need. "It is the right thing to do", McDaniel said. "It is so easy for most of us to look the other way and so hard for us to look need in the face and say, yes I will lend a helping hand. We want to drive that message home and into the heart of all Americans."
