Album Notes

Seachanges is an album about inner transformation and how the vastness of the sea represents the depth of psychic work needed to achieve personal change. I created the album in response to some difficult life events: so in the album there are mysterious tracks such as “Whale Song”, “Sheela-na-Gig” and “Eastern Darkness”, contrasted with love songs such as “The Miracle”, “My Art is a Song” and even anarchy as in “So you think I’ve got Attitude” and “Summer Heat”. Some of the songs are formally composed and some of the tracks are built up with a layered improvisational technique that I liken to constructing a lasagne! My vocal approach in the album is devoted to transforming my operatic voice into a more natural and expressive sound.
