Album Notes

This album is dedicated to the late great songwriter "Big" Bill Lister. "Big" Bill was 6' 7" 1/2 foot Country Music Pioneer.
Born Weldon E. Lister on January 5, 1923, in Kenedy, Texas, with a recording and performing career that lasted until a couple weeks before his passing on December 1, 2009.

Unquestionably, Big Bill Lister's lasting significance emanates from his association with Hank Williams, including his months as Hank's opening act, rhythm guitarist, and hunting and fishing buddy (as well as confidant). It revolves particularly around his recording of Williams' There's a Tear in My Beer and his subsequent unearthing of William's original demo for the song, which led to the historic recording and video of the song that featured Hank, Jr. 'duetting' with his father and became a #1 hit in 1988, almost forty years after the demo was made.
Big Bill took alot of musicians under his wing to pay it forward. One of them being Katherine Dawn Davis whom he nick named LadyBug. http://www.katherinedawn.com
During a conversation in a dream that LadyBug had with Big Bill after his passing the discussion was repeated (as in his living days with Katherine "Dawn" aka LadyBug about an all female group. "What would I call it? Why TX LadyBugs of course!"
Jan 15th, 2010 a meeting of female musicians resulted in the recording and release of an 6 track EP called First Rodeo by the TX LadyBugs on June 12, 2010. Digital release June 10, 2010, and a span of performing dates to encourage people to shake what there mama's gave em', and share their expertise at get down diversion.

Track 1 Original- No Vacancy-Radio Edit
Track 2 Original- the bluesy Maybe its Me, featuring Blues singer/songwriter Ginger Pickett (your on a bar stool in a TX dance hall talking to yourself and the bartender.)

Track 4- Classic Country Cover-Carter Sisters song Sweet Talkin Man that really showcases the TX LadyBugs as a group. The old phonograph scratch and needle takes you in front of an upright radio in the parlor.)

Track 6 Original Texas Spiritual written for the TX LadyBugs-Deep Cold Water, that has the TX LadyBugs taking you into a meetin' under a TX Music Revival Tent. (No snakes were harmed in the recording of this track. But we did record it all in a barn.) It's not funny we're not kidding!
If you admire independent Texas songwriters and recording artist, you will thoroughly enjoy this Rough Diamond Production Produced by David Helms and Katherine Dawn.
