Influenced by Miles Davis' electric music, Alchemy is Tasa's most ambitious effort to date. Combining funky electric jams with beautiful Indian melodies the 9 tracks of music on this CD will take the listener on an incredible journey of rich flavors and colors. Featuring New York jazz improviser Mark Feldman and sarangi master Dhruba Ghosh the new album by innovative Indo-jazz group Tasa breaks new ground in the realm of Indo-jazz. The band features some of the top musicians in the world music scene including Samidha Joglekar (vocals), Ravi Naimpally (composer/tabla), Chris Gartner (bass), Ernie Tollar (bansuri/sax), John Gzowski (guitar) and Alan Hetherington (drums/percusssion). Weaving ancient traditions with a modern attitude, Tasa is charting new rhythmic and melodic frontiers.
