Album Notes

If catchy guitar riffs and gorgeous melodies that will be in your head for days are what you're after, you need look no further than acoustic pop singer-songwriter Tess Beighton. Currently heading for her final year of a pop composition degree at Leeds College of Music, she is extremely prolific, with over a hundred songs to show for the tender age of nineteen. While her sound ranges from mellow to funky, from upbeat to bluesy, it is always mature for her age, and is compared to the likes of KT Tunstall and Missy Higgins. Tess also has plenty of live experience, having spent many years gigging with a successful local band in her Lincolnshire hometown, and she has picked up her considerable recording and production skills along the way.

"Tess Beighton's CD reminds me of why I became an engineer. It is some serious work. The basics done right. From solid song-writing to catchy lyrical hooks. Oh and the sound. Very fluid and organic. The entire piece though not a concept CD just makes sense.

She tells an excellent story from one song to the next. Second on her track listing is the ever uplifting and energetic “Hide” where she speaks about the scary concept leaving home where she speaks from the heart in a fresh and mature way that is rare of a young writer like Tess. Slowly, the album's last track, is a beautifully elegant piano ballad that brings the album to a very sweet conclusion. Ride it out on the other hand is a song that really stands out in this album. Brilliantly catchy. Somewhat familiar with a hint of simply red. Tess catches her listeners off guard with this one.

It really is amazing what you can do with a bunch of solid songs, musicians and straightforward down right good production.

I met Tess several years ago and just knew "Here is something special". I could lie and say I watched her talent grow over the years with great joy, while actually I just enjoyed the great music over the years. Talent like hers doesn't grow. It just gets more time behind it to write better and better songs, even though from the first song the talent was always there.

Her music will bring you whatever it is you need. peace, laughter, joy and make you feel alive, all over again.
It has been my pleasure to have caught on to her early enough to catch the music."

This CD from Tess Beighton is simply a joy to listen to. She has a great ability to write songs that are interesting in both a lyrical and musical sense. The song writing reminds me of KT Tunstall or Regina Spektor, but its wonderful, acoustic guitar-driven feel is also quite unique. The performances are top-notch in every respect and it has been beautifully captured and mastered. This CD is very highly recommended!
