When two like-minded songwriters come together, there’s a magic that happens. Introspective lyrics, perfectly placed harmonies, and a passion for the craft of song create chemistry unlike any other.
The Jealous Kind, the pairing of Colorado’s Josh Queen and Tennessee’s Dave Wright, is not the first musical duo to share this karmic connection, nor will it be the last.
But The Jealous Kind will give you a damn good song or two.
Josh and Dave crossed musical paths in 2002 when touring the Southeast with their own respective projects. They became fast friends over shared musical loves and vowed to one day work together.
In 2009, the pair started penning songs; sending lyrics, video, and audio back and forth over e-mail. They quickly realized they had something special happening and soon teamed up with acclaimed Nashville producer Stephen Leiweke (Schaeffer, Joel Auge) to bring some of these songs to life.
The Jealous Kind was born.
On The Jealous Kind’s self-titled EP (releasing April 2010), fresh melodies mingle with timeless themes, provoking honesty and vulnerability with a spark that only great songwriters can ignite. The duo makes a bow to 90s era bands on which their friendship was founded, with a sound reminiscent of Toad the Wet Sprocket and Counting Crows – familiar, but at the same time, new.
The Jealous Kind is nothing more than two friends making music together. That’s the magic.
And that’s everything.
