ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Imagine the bunkhouse of your dreams, where buckaroos and vacqueros sing and play songs springing from both legend and day-to-day life. With "When I Was A Cowboy" Tim Williams has created such a piece. Well known as an interpreter of 1920s and 30s blues, Tim turns here to the music of his father and uncles ( Iowa farm boys turned Montana cowboys) and the Mexican ranchera tradition (songs by Jose Felipe Leal and Freddy Fender) and those pioneer blues/hillbilly fusion artists Jimmy Rodgers and Leadbelly. Acoustic guitar, dobro, mandolin, Mexican bajo sexto bass and button accordion weave an acoustic tapestry of music of the real west...a long way from Nashville and CMT.
