Album Notes

Tin Can Phone is an explosive four-piece rock reggae band that fuses the energy and drive of reggae with effects-heavy vocals and melodic guitars. Live, the combination of rock solid rhythms, catchy vocal hooks, and blistering guitar battles attract and excite a consistently growing fan base, spreading positivity and knowledge through unique messages on an array of topics ranging from politics, to destiny, to run-ins with the law.

Singer Matt Rusin and lead guitarist Josh Nicholson are childhood friends from the small beach town of South Haven, Michigan and have spent the better part of the last 15 years playing in bands all over the country. Soon after their arrival in Austin in 2007, Matt and Josh formed Tin Can Phone, but it wasn’t until the addition of Matt’s cousin, bassist Tyler Rusin, in 2008 and drummer Tristan Richards in 2009 that the band solidified its unique sound. The energy, musical talent and lyrical prowess Tin Can Phone brings to the stage are worthy of praise by anyone who appreciates live music.

TCP has played venues across Texas and the Midwest, including dates in Chicago, Kalamazoo, and Memphis, along with two consecutive Harbor Festival appearances in their hometown of South Haven, Michigan. Drawing influence from artists such as K-OS, RX Bandits, and Pepper, the debut studio EP, recorded by Rocky Tran of Rockeasy Sound Productions, was officially released on October 9th, 2009.
