In 2007 Tom Dearing began working on the songs that would become “How Do You Think I Feel?”. Known for writing smart, well-crafted songs, he fell into a particularly inspired period leading up to this record. Influenced by Elvis Costello, The Pretenders, The Cure, Weezer, and Todd Rundgren, Tom creates songs that ultimately sound like nobody else.
When he hooked up with producer, engineer Corey Miller at The Lodge Recording Studios, they both realized the sparseness and energy of Tom’s demos really worked artistically. With that in mind they created Tom’s “signature sound” of sparse, crunchy, electric guitars set against smooth, melodic vocals. Featuring Dane Clark on drums , Troye Kinnett on keyboards (both of John Mellencamp’s band) and the extraordinary Randy Melson on bass, this record is an alternative pop/rock joyride, filled with thought provoking lyrics, strong performances, and surprising melodic twists.
Tom is currently putting together a band to play some live shows. He will also begin work on a follow-up record in December.
