Make a Wave comes from the Carnival scene in Trinidad and is a popular expression from Soca Artistes to party-goers exhorting them to "jump and wave" or "make a wave". The idea for the song came from Richard Burton, a native Trinidadian and experienced performer at the Carnival scene. This scene can also be experienced in Brooklyn, NY; Toronto, Canada; Atlanta, GA; Miami, FL; and many other cities around the world. Richard can be heard naming some of these cities during the song.
