Album Notes

The cinderella story of the the Irish diaspora is one
that has inspired songs and poems for countless
generations. Yet many of the dispersed in Scotland see
their Irish heritage labeled as deviant and negative.
We are a Scotland of many cultures, yet it seems as though
the paddies are invisible.

While we may be born in Scotland our hearts are
in Ireland and our music reflects that. The marks
that were made by the Irish who settled down here
many years ago are what helped shape Glasgow today.

So whether you're a southside paddy or a gallowgate maddie,
we hope you enjoy our first offering of songs, bum notes are all.
Songs about rebels, songs about peace makers, songs about
ordinary men who stood up to be counted.

We are The Wakes. We are Glasgow Irish.
